Remembering the maestro: Ludwig Van Beethoven!

Search giant Google decided to pay obeisance to the renowned musician of the 18th century by dedicating the Google doodle in the honour of this great musician who made his mark in the world of music in spite of becoming deaf in the late 30’s. However, this disability did not deter him and he went on to create more music that would really change the way people perceive good music.

Born in 1770, the singer was first tutored by his father who spotted his talent and honed it to perfection by becoming his first tutor, composer and conductor. Their efforts paid off and Ludwig Beethoven became a recognized pianist by the age of 21. Even after he lost his ability to hear in his 30’s, he still managed to create some memorable piano sonatas, Diabelli variations and several other notable compositions in the later part f his life. His creations have helped add melody to the lives of millions across the globe for centuries together. Fifth Symphony, Fur Elise and Moonlight Sonata are some of his compositions that have passed the test of time.

Google Doodle is part of the search giant’s initiative to get closer to the people of different cultures, engage them, and respect the sentiments of its multi-cultural workforce. Given the high number of Indians working at Google, it is no surprise to see Google doodle being dedicated to notable Indian festivals like Dassera, Diwali and even for Mahatma Gandhi’s birthday; an icon of peace who is revered all across the world. With such initiatives, Google wants to gain top-of-the mind recall and shed its image of a monopolistic internet giant and emerge as a useful daily life tool.
